Batavia BID Boxcar Derby

The Downtown Batavia Business Improvement District Is excited to announce The Batavia BID Boxcar Derby , located on Ellicott Ave. in Batavia NY. Race day Check-in will be in Centennial Park from 8:30am - 9:15am , first race goes off at 9:30:am 

What is a Boxcar Derby you ask? Well let me tell you all about it!
It's a STEM/STEAM fun activity that GCEDC and GLOW with Your Hands are the main event sponsors. 
GLOW With Your Hands, along with the GDEDC, will sponsor fourteen kids from the ages of 7-10 and fourteen kids from ages 11-13. (Kids must be 7 by day of race and cannot be over the age of 13 on race day.) This means 28 LUCKY kids get to race each other down Ellicott Avenue! What will they be racing in you ask? 
Let me tell you the best part, our sponsors have paid for the Boxcar kits for all 28 kids at no cost to you! You can build them, decorate them, and show them off. What a great way to end the summer! 
*Cars will need to be turned back in at the end of race.* Anyone that picks up a kit and does not participate in the race will need to return the kit or be charged for the full purchase price of the Box Car kit. 

The BID will be holding a work shop the day of the Boxcar kit pick up - Saturday, July 23rd@ 1 Oam in Jackson Square with a rain date of July 30th. Come pick up the kit and stay for the fun of building your car with your friends, family and your  community. 

RACERS WILL BE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. 
Don't forget to bring your friends and family to cheer them on and join us for a picnic in the park after the event. 

$10.00 Registration Fee gets racers a free Batavia BID Boxcar Derby t-shirt.
