Project Stork, Inc.
Health & Wellness
To ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers;
To raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty;
To reduce the transportation barrier that prevent many families for not utilizing supports and services when it comes to their baby/toddler.
Children whose parents manifest high levels of stress or depression are at greater risk of social, emotional, and behavioral problems. The fact that an insufficient supply of diapers and basic needs is not only a risk factor for poor infant and child health but also for maternal mental health, potentially diminishing maternal sense of competence and increasing maternal stress, which ultimately leads to potential negative impacts on child health and development. Our mission continuously moves in the direction of improving the health and wellness of our smallest community members, while impacting the maternal mental health of their caregivers.
